Korean Immersion Programme

This is a language & culture immersion programme conducted in Seoul.
Our objective is to help learners practice their ability to bring messages and intentions across accurately within Korean speaking environments, bearing in mind social contexts and
enriching learner's historical and cultural knowledge.

30 course hours across 10 Days
(Mon - Fri across 2 weeks)

LEARNERS DEMOGRAPHIC

Adult learners (18 years old and above) with intermediate fluency in Korean language who would like to improve their communication skills, and cultural, social and historical understanding.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS & MEDIUM

  • Language Requirement: Intermediate Fluency (SKLS Students to have completed I2T2)

  • Programme Medium: 50% Korean, 50% English

Proficiency Gauge

Students applying for this course should already possess intermediate level proficiency in Korean:

  • Able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, or daily life.

  • Able to understand the most situations likely to arise whilst going about daily life

  • Able to articulate simple connected points on familiar topics or topics of personal interest.

  • Able to describe experiences and events, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

  • SEJONG KLS Students: Completed Intermediate 2 Term 2 in SEJONG KLS with course completion certificate by the time programme commences

  • Non SEJONG Students: Required to schedule a short online chat with one of our consultants to advise on meeting their proficiency eligibility before registration acceptance

DUAL-ENDED
  • Korean Immersion in Seoul
    (2 weeks programme). 

  • Immersion programme in Seoul is conducted twice a year.

PRACTICAL COMMUNICATION FOCUS
  • Non-academic (grammar is not taught during this course, students must have language proficiency in basic grammatical structures).

  • Focusing on fundamental  communication objectives: 

    • Getting message across to one another.​ 

    • Deployment of spoken language, body language, cultural and social knowledge and understanding. 

BILINGUAL FACILIATION, INTERACTIVE CLASSES
  • Facilitators with native fluency in English and Korean language.

  • Good understanding, exposure or residency in cross culture / language environment.

  • Interactive classroom sessions, non-lecture based.

CULTURAL & SOCIAL EDUCATION
  • Introduction to cultural norms & relevant social scenarios. 

  • Excursions to places of cultural / historical importance​.

Accomodation

Learners are required to book and make their own flight and accommodation arrangements to attend the course in Seoul. For reference, we have compiled a summary of hostel options conveniently located in the area (Jongro).  
Please approach the hostels directly for updated details and booking arrangements.
